Wellington W comes from the show jumping branch of the Joop van Wessel line. The sire of this striking foal is the stallion Comthago, a horse who is gradually making his mark on both breeding and competition. Ridden by Hessel Hoekstra, he finished second in the Dutch Championships and won the Ommen Grand Prix. We await the stallion’s development with great interest. The dam, Gunanita, is a descendant of the Grand Prix stallion Corland. She is an Elite mare, has undergone IBOP testing, and holds ProK and Pref classifications. She has already produced several Elite mares and is also the dam of the 1.40m horse Manita, who is being ridden in competition by Tom Brinkman. The second dam is Unanita (by Odermus R), a ‘Ster’, ProK and Pref. She also produced the top-ranked inspection mare Hunanita (by Charisma) and Kunita (by Great Blue), who competes at 3* level in eventing and is part of the Young Riders team heading to the European Eventing Championships at the end of August. The third dam, Laganita, is elite, ProK, Pref and Prest, by the stallion Glendale. She is the dam of the Grand Prix show jumper Silver Spring and the granddam of Balanita (1.40m), Durano (1.45m), Falanita (1.50m) and Jaganita (1.60m).
